Explore ancient cities, medieval architecture, rolling hills, and the stunning scenery of the Adriatic coast. Our tour begins with three nights in the seaside resort of Opatija, one night at Plitvice Lakes visiting Croatia's most beautiful National Park, three nights in the Medieval city of Dubrovnik, one night in Split with its historical late-Roman Diocletians Palace, and two nights in Ljubljana, the quaint capital of Slovenia. We complete our tour with a relaxing two night stay in Croatia's capital city of Zagreb.

Day 1, Friday June 23 (depart home, board overnight flight)
Following our at-home-pickup-service, we transfer to the Vancouver Airport and depart this afternoon aboard Lufthansa's overnight flight via Frankfurt to Venice, Italy.

Day 2, Saturday June 24 (flight arrives Venice, coach transfer to Opatija)
Our flight arrives this morning in Venice, Italy and we transfer by motor-coach to Croatia's Adriatic seaside resort of Opatija, and begin a three-night stay at the Hotel Bristol. Located in Opatia's town centre, the Bristol is a former imperial hotel, built in 1906, in characteristic Hapsburg-era style. This evening is at leisure.

Day 3, Sunday June 25 (Opatija, a day at leisure)
This morning we introduce Opatija with a neighbourhood walking tour. This popular resort community, known as Croatia's Riviera, was once the summer retreat for Roman Caesars and Hapsburg monarchs. Following our tour, the rest of the day is at leisure to explore on our own, until this evening's welcome dinner. Meals BD

Day 4, Monday June 26 (Opatija, explore the Istrian Peninsula)
Today we travel south from Opatija to the historic coastal city of Pula, located at the tip of the Istrian Peninsula. Dating to the 10th century BC, this city has been home to Romans, Greeks, Venetians and many more. A walking tour highlights the well-preserved amphitheatre and artifacts from the city's time as a Roman colony. At a charming local restaurant, we enjoy a presentation of local produce and regional specialties, followed by a multi-course lunch including wine. Returning to Opatija, this evening is at leisure. Day 8, Friday June 30 (Dubrovnik, visit Montenegro)
This morning, we cross into the unspoiled and rarely travelled county of Montenegro. Located less than one hour from Dubrovnik, Montenegro offers a mixture of stunning natural scenery, unspoiled historical treasures, and a culture largely untouched by outside influences. We gaze upon Europe's southernmost fjord, where mountains descend directly into the sea creating a landscape unlike anywhere else in the world. Driving around Kotor Bay, we pass quaint villages and learn about the many cultures and empires that have left their marks in this region. We stop in the medieval walled-city of Kotor, and soak up its typical Mediterranean lifestyle, before returning to Dubrovnik. This evening, while visiting a local family, we enjoy dinner, sample regional wines, and learn about life in the Croatian heartland. Meals BD

Day 9, Saturday July 1 (Dubrovnik to Split)
Savouring stunning sea views, we travel up the winding coastal road, hugging the sheer cliffs that drop to the Adriatic Sea.
