Smoky Mountains, fall colours, music, sightseeing, and lots of fun. We begin with an overnight near the Nashville Airport, and then continue to action-packed Pigeon Forge for a four night stay in the heart of the Smoky Mountains, to visit Dollywood, to tour through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and to enjoy five shows offering a variety of music and entertainment. From Pigeon Forge we travel to Chattanooga to experience Rock City Gardens, Ruby Falls with its underground waterfall, the famous Tennessee Aquarium, and the thrill of Lookout Mountain's Incline Railway.

Departing Chattanooga we stop in historic Lynchburg's town square for lunch at Miss Bobo's Boarding House, followed by visits to the Jack Daniels Distillery and a Tennessee Walking Horse Farm. We continue to Nashville for a four night stay at the amazing Opryland Hotel, to enjoy the city's numerous attractions and three more shows - Opry Country Classics, the General Jackson dinner cruise, and the Grand Ole Opry! We complete our Tennessee Shindig with three nights in Memphis, at the famous Peabody - the grand hotel of the south! Memphis attractions include Sun Studios, the Rock 'N' Soul Museum, and of course Graceland!

Day 1, Wednesday October 13
(home to Nashville)

Following our at-home-pickup-service, we transfer to the Vancouver Airport and board our flight via Dallas to Nashville, Tennessee. Tonight's home, a short drive from the airport is the Radisson Hotel Opryland, where we enjoy a light snack before retiring.

Day 2, Thursday October 14
(Nashville to Pigeon Forge)

We enjoy a leisurely buffet breakfast at our hotel, and then depart Nashville travelling east with stops in Crossville and Knoxville en-route to our four night destination, the action-packed music and entertainment centre - Pigeon Forge, in the heart of the Smoky Mountains! Arriving in Pigeon Forge, we experience luxury in the mountains as we settle in for four nights at the elegant Inn at Christmas Place. Tonight we're off to the popular Smith Family Dinner Theater, to be entertained with a fantastic blend of classic country, gospel, and oldies rock-n-roll music, and clean family comedy!

Day 3, Friday October 15
(Pigeon Forge, second day)

Every morning we begin with our hotel's deluxe hot and cold continental breakfast. After breakfast, we begin an autumn excursion, with a local guide, through the wilderness of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. With stops en-route, we travel through the park to Cherokee, North Carolina, where we pause for lunch and browsing, before returning in mid-afternoon to Pigeon Forge. Tonight at the Smoky Mountain Theater, The Temptations Revue, takes us back to the sounds of Motown, with a tribute to those timeless tunes, known for their smoothness, distinct harmonies, and definitive style.

Day 4, Saturday October 16
(Pigeon Forge, third day)

We enjoy a leisurely morning - or, if you wish our bus will visit one of Pigeon Forge's famous factory outlet malls! That famous shop, The Incredible Christmas Place, is right across the street from our hotel. This afternoon at the Miracle Theater, we experience a stunning recreation of the life of Jesus Christ, featuring an enormous cast of actors, singers, dancers, technicians, and live animals. Tonight - the Comedy Barn - the funniest show in town! Clean comedy skits, jugglers, musicians, and great country music!

Day 5, Sunday October 17
(Pigeon, fourth day)

Today we visit Dolly Parton's Tennessee Mountain Home and experience the country charm and good, clean fun called Dollywood! Dollywood is a 400 acre landscaped theme park, depicting the Smoky Mountains of the late 1800’s through live musical shows, rides, and working craft shops with master craftsmen. Tonight the grand finale to our Pigeon Forge visit - a high-energy variety show at the Country Tonite Theatre!

Day 6, Monday October 18
(Pigeon Forge to Chattanooga)

Departing Pigeon Forge this morning we travel southwest visiting the Mayfield Dairy in Athens (yes - ice cream!), before arriving in historic Chattanooga, where in 1863 General Sherman began his march through Georgia to the sea. With a local guide, we tour the city and learn the history of the civil war battles at Chickamauga, Lookout Mountain, and Missionary Ridge. We enjoy lunch and a tour at Rock City Gardens, located at a point high atop Lookout Mountain, which affords a magnificent view of seven states. We descend from our lofty perch, aboard the Lookout Mountain Incline Railway! Our home for two nights is the downtown Doubletree Hotel Chattanooga.

Day 7, Tuesday October 19
(Chattanooga attractions)

This morning we visit Ruby Falls, one of Chattanooga's major attractions. Reached by elevator, the 145 foot falls is 1120 feet underground, providing a most spectacular underground scene! Returning to downtown Chattanooga we experience the Tennessee Aquarium, the highest rated aquarium in the USA. We begin with an exciting two hour cruise into the scenic Tennessee River Gorge, aboard the aquarium's sleek high-speed catamaran, the River Gorge Explorer. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure to explore the aquarium or browse the shops of downtown Chattanooga. Our hotel is a short walk from the aquarium.

Day 8, Wednesday October 20
(Chattanooga to Nashville)

Departing Chattanooga this morning, we travel northwest through Tennessee's heartland, a region of rolling hills and bluegrass meadows. Arriving in restful Lynchburg, we visit the Jack Daniel's Distillery, the oldest registered distillery in the United States, and a National Historic Site. We stroll Lynchburg's town square and enjoy a family style, southern lunch at Miss Mary Bobo's Boarding House. After lunch we travel to Shelbyville and tour a Tennessee Walking Horse farm, and then continue north to Nashville - the political capital of Tennessee and the country music capital of the world! Arriving in Nashville, we check in for four nights at the fabulous Gaylord Opryland Hotel. Following dinner, the evening is at leisure to relax and explore the many shops, gardens, waterways, and attractions of this amazing complex.

Day 9, Thursday October 21
(Nashville)

This morning we begin with a guided tour of Nashville featuring the downtown area, Music Row, a drive by some homes of the stars, and a visit to the Ryman Auditorium (original home of the Grand Ole Opry), followed by some free time to wander by Tootsie's Orchid Lounge and the nearby shops of Broadway. We return to our hotel for some leisure time before departing later this afternoon to visit Belle Meade Plantation for a tour and dinner in the elegant southern mansion. Tonight we return to the Ryman Auditorium for a performance of the hit new show, Opry Country Classics, which spotlights the classic country songs that have defined country music!

Day 10, Friday October 22
(Nashville touring)

This morning begins with a guided tour of Music Row's historic RCA Studio B, followed by the true music city experience - a visit to the Country Music Hall of Fame! This afternoon we tour the Hermitage, home of Andrew Jackson, the nation's seventh president. We return to our hotel to relax before this evening's dinner and show cruise aboard the grandest showboat of them all - Opryland's sternwheeler General Jackson!

Day 11, Saturday October 23
(Nashville, Grand Ole Opry)

Today is at leisure, to relax, to enjoy the Opryland Hotel, or to visit the adjacent Opry Mills, a 1.2 million square foot shopping centre. Tonight we complete our Nashville experience with the show that made country music famous - the Grand Ole Opry!

Day 12, Sunday October 24
(Nashville to Memphis)

This morning travelling west, we stop at Hurricane Mills, for a tour and lunch at Loretta Lynn's Ranch. This afternoon in Jackson, Tennessee, we visit Casey Jones Village which features the Casey Jones Museum, shops, and a country store with an old fashioned ice cream parlour! Continuing westward we arrive in Memphis, the home of the blues, on the Mississippi River. Our home for three nights is the famous Peabody Memphis - the grand hotel of the south! A legendary tradition occurs daily when the Peabody ducks stroll on a red carpet to the lobby fountain accompanied by John Phillip Sousa's King Cotton March! The evening is at leisure to enjoy the Peabody's shops and restaurants.

Day 13, Monday October 25
(Memphis touring)

Today, with a local guide, we tour the sights of Memphis including visits to the famous Sun Studio, the birthplace of rock and roll, and to the Smithsonian's Rock 'n' Soul Museum. We return to our hotel for an evening at leisure.

Day 14, Tuesday October 26
(Memphis, visit Graceland)

This morning we're off to Graceland, the home of Elvis Presley. Our visit includes admission to numerous exhibits including Elvis' airplanes the Hound Dog II and the Lisa Marie, the automobile museum, and a tour of the Graceland Mansion. We return to the Peabody, and the afternoon is at leisure to enjoy the hotel, or the shops and restaurants of nearby Beale Street - the home of the blues! Tonight we complete our tour with a farewell dinner.

Day 15, Wednesday October 27
(Memphis to home)

This morning we transfer to the Memphis Airport and board our flight via Dallas to Vancouver. Transfers included to home from the Vancouver Airport.
